Friendswood honors fallen with Memorial Day event

Date:

The annual sound of bagpipes filled the air around City Hall during the Memorial Day event sponsored by the city of Friendswood. Held each year to observe Memorial Day, the 2022 event to honor the fallen was well attended and with perfect weather.

The gathering took place at the Veteran’s Memorial beside City Hall on South Friendswood Drive.

Dr. David Lorenz of First Baptist Friendswood provided the invocation.

Chief  Robert Weiners handled the Presentation of Colors, the Post of Colors and the introduction of the special guest speaker.

Fidencio Leda Jr., President of Operation Honor Our Local Veterans, spoke to the crowd.

Mayor Pro Tem Robert Griffon welcomed all to the event and introduced the performance of Taps by Creekside Intermediate student Logan Risinger.

As in the past, former FISD administrator and teacher, Rob Wise performed a medley on bagpipes. This was followed by an annual group photograph of all active military and veterans who were in attendance.

Feedback from the attending crowd was in agreement that the Memorial Day Ceremonies were a great and enjoyable way to observe the holiday.
