Labor Day in Friendswood is special because it means the return of the Annual Labor Day Ice Cream Social hosted each year by the Friendswood Historical Society. This will be the seventh year they have held the event.
This year, on Monday, September 5, 2022, the Ice Cream Social will be held at the historic Perry Home from 5 to 7 pm.
The event is free and open to the Friendswood community.
Partnering this year with the FHS will be the Friends of Downtown Friendswood Association and Keep Friendswood Beautiful.
Rotary, Heritage Gardeners, National Art Honor Society (FHS student organization) also donate in various ways to bring this event to the community.
Entertainment will be provided by George Coward of Show Biz Entertainment. Coward is a bassist, vocalist and guitarist who performs with his own groups: Watercolours, a contemporary smooth jazz group and Doppelganger, a nine piece variety horn band. He also performs as a solo act.
The Perry Home along with the Frank J. Brown home are both historical museums in Friendswood. Beginning September 3, 2022, both museums will reopen after being closed since March 2020 due to COVID.
The two will be open the first Saturday of each month from 10 am to 2 pm. The Brown Museum is located at 108 Skyview Terrace and the Perry Home is located at 109 W. Spreading Oaks.
