Search for missing Friendswood man ends in tragedy

Date:

Lester Mabry left his home at approximately 7:30am, on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022. He told his family he was going for a walk and never returned home.

When the Friendswood Police Department announced they were searching for Mabry, many neighbors reported seeing him out walking on previous occasions. One resident even reported having footage of him on his recent walk from her doorbell camera.

The Friendswood Police Department and Volunteer Fire Department searched the area around Clearview Avenue on Monday after successfully pinging Mabry’s phone. Several K-9 units and an aerial drone were deployed to assist with the search. At 8:56pm Monday evening, human remains were found in the wooded area between Clearview Avenue and Clear Creek.

The Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the remains recovered by the FPD on Dec. 12, 2022, to be those of Lester Mabry and concluded that there is no evidence of foul play.
