As the sun set on June 30, 2023, the Rotary Club of Friendswood entered a new era with the installation of Dave Barron as their new President. The much-anticipated event marked the end of Judy Wiggins’s successful term and the beginning of Barron’s tenure.
The grand ceremony was presided over by District 5910 Governor Amy Kilgore, who also took the opportunity to welcome the newly appointed Assistant Governors, Chris Turner and Robin Hall. Both Turner and Hall, also being members of the Rotary Club of Friendswood, were met with enthusiastic applause as they were officially recognized in their new roles.
In his inaugural address, Dave Barron revealed the club’s 2023-2024 Rotary Slogan, “Create Hope in the World,” a clear testament to his mission of using the power of Rotary to inspire hope and positivity.
The outgoing President, Judy Wiggins, received a heartfelt farewell as she passed the mantle onto Barron. Under Wiggins’s leadership, the Rotary Club of Friendswood has experienced growth and expansion, with a multitude of successful community service projects to her credit. As she steps down, Wiggins leaves behind a strong legacy, providing a benchmark for future leaders of the Club.
District 5910 Governor Amy Kilgore expressed her enthusiasm about the new appointments and the fresh energy they bring to the district. “The appointment of Dave Barron, along with Chris Turner and Robin Hall as Assistant Governors, underscores our commitment to serving the community and our belief in the potential of Rotary to make a real difference,” said Governor Kilgore.
