FHS Wind Ensemble reaches 3rd place in State

The Friendswood High School Wind Ensemble has secured an impressive third-place finish at the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) 5A State Honor Band Contest, a prestigious event recognizing the best of Texas school bands.

The highly competitive contest, held earlier this month, drew bands from all corners of the Lone Star state. The Friendswood High School Wind Ensemble’s exceptional performance was an exhilarating display of both individual talent and ensemble cohesion, reflecting countless hours of practice and dedication.

Band Director Brett Nelson, speaking about the achievement, expressed gratitude for the support system that has fostered this level of success. “Thank you to our clinicians, private lessons teachers, parents, and FISD Directors Maycie Meyer, Julio Sanchez, Jason Abbott, and Wayne Steinke,” he said.

This year’s Wind Ensemble students are: Trinity Folzman, Evan Yang, Aden Pugsley, Caroline Jensen, Adair Schultz, Lindsay Kilgo, Balin Pugsley, Lindsay Kilgo, Nicole McGill, Hugh Vo, Paul Podrebarac, Sophia Bocek, Ethan Yang, Sean Bocek, Mohamad Moussaoui, Helene Ouyang, Ella Schaefer, Cort Koester, Alex Wilson, Adam Shafer, Shivam Gupta, Dylan Shafer, Diane Husted, Dawson Jeanes, Nathan Zheng, Anthony Vesho, Ajay Juarez, Solisa Azar, Coy Jeter, Ariana Lopez, Camryn Thurman, Dalton McMahan, Jolie Jackson, Josiah Strickland, Lacey Drouet, Marina Gerges, Logan Thurman, Joaquin Krancher, Jeremy Gao, Tyler Simmons, Cayden Torres, Alex Lichter, Will Brown, Jude Krancher, Skyler Cloyd, Caley Stamper, Carolyn Chapman, and Tayler Wiederhold.
