Friendswood High School Theatre Thespian Troupe 1084 showcased its dedication and commitment to excellence as it achieved the esteemed title of Honor Troupe. The accolade was awarded in recognition of their exemplary leadership skills and outstanding collaborative efforts after participating in The Leadership Academy, a year-long online training program offered by Texas Thespians.
The program required the FHS Thespian Troupe 1084 members to engage in rigorous leadership training and project submissions. The culminating event, Texas Thespian Troupe Day, held at The Woodlands High School on Saturday, July 22, witnessed the fruition of their hard work as they were officially bestowed with the prestigious title of Honor Troupe.
The Leadership Academy, designed for both developed and struggling troupes, as well as those transitioning to new leadership, proved to be an invaluable platform for fostering essential skills within the participants. Guided by expert facilitators through engaging Zoom calls and Google Classroom assignments, the program focuses on developing leadership abilities, enhancing troupe dynamics, promoting collaboration, establishing best practices, and fortifying theatre programs.
“We are immensely proud of our talented students from Friendswood High School Theatre, Thespian Troupe 1084, who have demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities and unwavering dedication throughout their participation in The Leadership Academy,” said Kathy Powdrell, the Thespian Sponsor and Troupe Director. “Their commitment to excellence has not only enriched their own experiences but has also positively impacted our entire theatre community.”
The hard work and dedication of the FHS Officers of 2023-23 played a significant role in the success of this project. The following officers demonstrated remarkable leadership and contributed their utmost to achieving the Honor Troupe status: Jiszelle Cross, Connor Adams, Jacob Mayfield, Hunter Hovorka, Gabi McGregor and Kynlee Lundrum.
As recipients of the prestigious Honor Troupe title, Friendswood High School Theatre, Thespian Troupe 1084, will be commemorated with a plaque, a banner to be proudly displayed in their theatre, and a feature in the esteemed Texas Thespians Monthly publication. This recognition not only celebrates their accomplishments but also serves as an inspiration to aspiring thespians and theatre enthusiasts across the state.
