Pearl to present ‘The Revolutionists’

Pearland Theatre Guild kicks off fall 2023 with a play opening Sept. 8.

“The Revolutionists” by Lauren Gunderson will run Sept. 8 through 24 at the Pearl Theatre, 14803 Park Almeda Drive.

In its 13th performing arts season, the nonprofit community playhouse relies on grants, donations, sponsorships and ticket sales.

Directed by Jonathan Gonzalez and set in 1793 Paris, “The Revolutionists” is about four real women who lived boldly in France during the French Revolution’s Reign of Terror.

The cast includes Laura Hernandez as playwright Olympe de Gouges, Joy Germany as assassin Charlotte Cordray, Morgan Hughs as former queen Marie Antoinette and Renee van Nifterik as Haitian rebel Marianne Angelle.

The season continues with “A Christmas Carol: Ghost Story” Dec. 1-17 followed by “The Play that Goes Wrong” March 22-April 7, and “American Son” June 14-30.
Regular showtimes are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. A buy one ticket, get one free night will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14.
