Master Gardeners host free workshops, plant sales

Galveston County Master Gardeners will host two September programs free to the public about gardening topics as well as two plant sales.

On Saturday, September 16, Wild About Wildflowers will be held from 9 to 11 am at the Galveston County AgriLife Extension Office located inside Carbide Park at 4102 B Main Street (FM 519) in LaMarque. Horticulture Agent Stephen Brueggerhoff and explore the beauty of Texas native plants and wildflowers.

Prime time to prep and sow wildflower seeds for Spring’s bounty, Brueggerhoff will give tips to successful wildflower cultivation. Pre – register for this free seminar and learn more: https://galveston.agrilife.org/horticulture or call 281-309 -5065.

T-Bud Grafting will be offered Saturday, September 30 from 9 to 11:30 am. GCMG Hazel Lampton will present a hands-on workshop for T-bud grafting. She will explore methods used on peach, plum, pear, apple and other fruit trees. This workshop is limited to 20 participants and those wanting to attend must preregister to participle. Two plant sales are also planned by the Master Gardeners.

Summer Sundown Online Plant Sale runs September 8 at noon to noon on September 9. The sale will offer fruit and citrus trees, tomatoes, tropical hibiscus, and perennials available for purchase. In October, the group will host the 2nd Annual Fall Festival and Plant Sale in the Discovery Garden in Carbide Park (4102 Main St. in LaMarque) on Saturday, October 21 from 9 am to 1 pm.

GCMGs offer fun, food and discovery featuring garden tours and seminars. Booths include MG grown plants, fall vegetables, herbs, bulbs, and more. There will be an Ask a Master Gardener table for the public to get gardening questions answered, Galveston County AgriLife Extension program booths, and vendors.
