Museum plans October presentations

Date:

Celebrating Texas Archeology Month during October, the Brazoria County Historical Museum will kick-off an Archeological Lecture Series Thursday, Oct. 12 with a presentation on local archeology.

The 6 p.m. event will be presented by Eleanor Stoddart, Cultural Resources coordinator for Texas State Parks, who will cover some of the archeology projects happening in the local area and an overview of events planned to celebrate 100 years of Texas State Parks.

On Oct. 19, a 6 p.m. presentation titled “Untapping the Past: The Archeology of Kreische Brewery” will be given by Gavin Miculka, assistant Sites Manager of Kreische Brewery and Monument Hill, along with Sites Educator Jenny Townzen. Built by German immigrant Heinrich Kreische, the brewery grew to become the third largest in Texas before it ceased operations shortly after Kreische’s death in 1882.
