The mark of a good team is seeing how they respond after losing the previous week and Shadow Creek head coach Brad Butler saw his team crush the Alief Hastings Bears 63-0 in response to the 20-13 loss to Pearland.
The Shadow Creek offense steamrolled Hastings with 491 yards (224 passing, 267 rushing) in a balanced attack while the Shark defense allowed the Bears only 87 total yards (19 passing, 68 rushing) in total domination.
The Sharks made a statement on the opening kickoff as Alex Kirkland returned the ball to the end zone on a 94-yard return for the first score of the game to make it 7-0.
Shadow Creek would add three more scored in the first quarter as Joshua Davis scored on a 68-yard run, Chris Stewart gathered in a pass from junior QB Cobey Sellers covering 74-yards, and Christian Seriale scored on a 78-yard bomb from Sellers to make the score 28-0 after the first 12 minutes of the game. Aiden Bui was good on all for extra points.
The scoring barrage continued in the next quarter as Davis found paydirt on a 30-yard run, Seriale scored on a 5-yard toss from Sellers, and Stewart scored his second touchdown on a 29-yard strike from Sellers for a 49-0 lead at intermission.
Once again, Bui was true on the PATs for the first half.
The Sharks made the score 63-0 in the third quarter as Caleb Harrison scored on an interception and Carter Stewart added an 8-yard scoring run to post the 63-0 final score following two more extra points by Bui who had nine total points.
Sellers was 7-of-9 passing for 220 yards and four TDs.
Davis had six carries for 114 yards and two TDs while Stewart had eight totes for 83 yards and a score while also making two catches for 103 yards and two more TDs. Seriale had two grabs for 83 yards and two score.
Shadow Creek is now 4-1 on the season and 1-1 in district. The Sharks will travel to Crump Stadium to face the Alief Elsik Rams on Thursday, October 5 at 7:00 p.m.
