Clear Brook to Host Generation Musical

Date:

68 Elementary and Intermediate Students Included

Clear Brook High School is hosting a fall “Seussical the Musical” production beginning Friday, October 20, with five performances for the public to enjoy.

This is Clear Brook’s Generation Musical, where students from feeder elementary and intermediate campuses audition for a spot in the ensembles and chorus. This year, there are 68 total junior performers from Greene, Landolt, North Pointe, Ward, Weber, and Wedgewood elementary schools and Brookside, Clear Lake, and Westbrook intermediate schools.

“This tradition began four years ago when we decided to invite the younger junior performers to be involved in our production,” said Clear Brook High School technical director Michelle Smith. “These students get the full experience of being on the big stage.”

The junior performers are mixed in with 25 total high school students who not only have to memorize and rehearse their parts but also help train the younger students.
“It’s really unique because the directors are focusing on both groups as well trying to bring the musical full circle in the end,” said Smith. “Since we only do this once every four years, the older kids love getting the opportunity to share the stage some with the younger students for this show.”

Planning for the Generation Musical begins well in advance, so there is enough time for auditions and rehearsals.

“The high school students get around eight and half weeks of rehearsing and the junior performers get about six weeks beginning in early September after they audition,” said Smith. “So, we really have to be smart with our time, especially with this many students.”

This is the first of seven total productions that Clear Brook will host this school year. The rest of Clear Creek ISD’s high schools will host their Spring Musicals towards the beginning of 2024.

“Our goal is to always create convincing characters and tell an impactful story with each of our productions, and we are excited to bring this production for parents, students, and the public to enjoy going into the holiday season,” said Smith.

Tickets are $10 for students and $15 for adults. To purchase, please visit cbplayers.ludus.com.
