Cultural arts plan in feedback phase

The City of Pearland’s first-ever cultural arts master plan is well underway, with an online survey gathering community feedback this month.

Pearland City Council, in March of this year, approved a contract of just under $90,000 with San Diego, Calif.-based Cultural Planning Group, or CPG, to develop Pearland’s first cultural arts master plan.

The firm has created arts-related master plans for more than 85 communities, including Houston, Flower Mound, Wichita Falls, and Round Rock.

Residents have until Nov. 30 to complete an online survey at tinyurl.com/PearlandArtsPlan. The survey takes about 5 to 10 minutes and asks participants about the types of arts-related activities they enjoy, events they attend, and their thoughts about public art.

Funded through the Pearland Convention and Visitors Bureau by a portion of hotel occupancy tax, the arts plan was a need identified during a 2021 “listening tour” during which city leaders spoke with arts-related groups.
The plan is expected to be adopted in 2024.
