After dedicating 24 years to the Friendswood Police Department, Chief Robert Wieners is set to retire. Throughout his tenure, Wieners has been a vocal proponent for community safety, leading initiatives that positioned Friendswood as one of the safest cities nationwide.
His leadership extended beyond just law enforcement; Wieners emphasized the importance of building strong ties between the police and the community. His proactive approach to community policing and outreach activities fortified the bond between the department and the residents.
The City of Friendswood, acknowledging his significant contributions, expressed profound gratitude, stating that Chief Wieners’ influence on the city’s safety and community relations will resonate for many years to come.
A statement issued by the City of Friendswood said, “We cannot begin to adequately express our gratitude and appreciation.”
Deputy Chief Josh Rogers has been appointed to serve as the Interim Chief of Police, but the City Council is expected to make the title permanent at next week’s Council Meeting. Rogers has been with the Friendswood Police Department since 1999.
