Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Held for Ross Elementary

Date:

Clear Creek ISD celebrated the substantial completion of the Bond 2017 Program by hosting a special ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly completed James. H Ross Elementary School.

Originally constructed in 1965, Ross was one of seven schools brought forth during the 2017 Bond proposals that was at least 50 years old. The major project added to and renovated the entire campus to meet current learning and safety standards. Construction began in May 2022.

Updates include new classrooms, furniture, lighting, and state-of-the-art technology. The library was constructed from an old gym and features a Makerspace area and green room. A new administration wing was built at the front entrance, and a double-stacking lane and parking were added to improve traffic conditions. High-volume collaboration spaces were also included.

“What a dream come true to stand here before you in this beautiful new space for this very special occasion,” said Principal Kelly Mooney during the ceremony. “Today is much more than just a celebration of the tangible accomplishments you will see walking through the halls, but also the tireless work that has gone on behind the scenes from our staff, parents, students, community, and construction crew.”

Since the Bond approval more than five years ago by CCISD taxpayers, the district has completed nearly 60 total construction projects that have improved learning environments for students and staff and have upgraded major district department buildings to support collaboration and innovation. The renovations to Ross Elementary and Whitcomb Elementary were the final two projects to be completed on the list.

The Board of Trustees originally approved $24,591,857 for the project, but the District’s facilities team anticipates that the ultimate amount will show a savings once numbers are finalized. The project was awarded to architect Huckabee and ICI Construction.
