Farm & Vine event impresses once again

Date:

This past weekend marked the annual gathering of community and culinary excellence at the 5th annual Farm & Vine event, orchestrated by the Friends of Downtown Friendswood Association. Set against the idyllic backdrop of a local homestead provided by Ignatius and Janet Lawrence Leonards, the evening was a blend of gourmet food and rustic charm.

Chef Kris Jakob and his team were at the helm of the culinary experience, complemented by the elegant decor of Kathy and Chris Rea from Majestic Linens. Providing the auditory ambiance was The Black Friday Project, whose musical offerings underscored the event’s festive spirit.

The Leonards’ generosity in opening their property for the event was acknowledged with deep gratitude, highlighting the commitment required by property owners to facilitate such community gatherings.

The event was made possible by a range of sponsors, with Castle Biosciences Inc., The Handy Family, and Tannos Development Group, LLC leading the contributions at the Double Diamond and Diamond sponsorship levels, respectively. Further support was shown by the Adam & Natalie Ring Family, Meg Crowley Family, Stanfield Properties, and Fidelity Investments, among others.

Local businesses, including HomeTown Bank and Hill Sand Company, also contributed at various sponsorship levels, showcasing the robust partnership between the event and the local economy.

The wine for the evening was sponsored by Sherry and Joe Mackinnon, while Castle Biosciences Inc. provided a signature drink. F&V Tea Towels were courtesy of Altered Images Color Salon & Day Spa, and attendees could take home market mementos or enjoy the Step & Repeat Photo Booth managed by Judy Wiggins Agency.

The heart of the event was not only in its food and festivity but also in its community spirit. A committee co-chaired by Suzanne Banfield and Anouk Davis, alongside a host of volunteers coordinated by Meresa Fincher, was instrumental in bringing this event to life.
A special nod should also be given to the volunteers and committee members, whose dedication to the community was a cornerstone of the event’s success.

With all the moments captured by Paige Plaia Photography, the 5th Farm & Vine event was a testament to Friendswood’s strong community bonds and its celebration of local agriculture and cuisine.
