Dawson Lady Eagles capture McDonald’s Division II Tournament

Date:

The Dawson Lady Eagles basketball team is currently 10-0, and they captured the McDonald’s Division II Tournament with wins over Sam Rayburn (63-26), Klein Oak (53-43), Clear Springs (80-22), Cedar Park (54-49), and Humble (56-38).

Kendall Ford was named to the All-Tournament Team for her outstanding play.

The Eagles entered the tournament with prior wins over Fort Bend – Kempner (63-35), Barbers Hill (45-28), George Ranch (81-33), and Clear Brook (56-35).

Head coach Sharee Griffin is beginning her second year of the Lady Eagles basketball program and has already seen giant improvement from last season when Dawson finished 16-18.

This year, Kendall Ford, Kennedy Smith, and Mia Barre are Leading the Lady Eagles.
Griffin said that their offensive strengths feature multiple shooters and all-around athleticism.

“We lack overall team experience and size in the post,” Griffin said. “However, we do have quickness and aggressiveness to overshadow some of weak spots.”
Look for the Lady Eagles to challenge for a playoff spot this year.
