Rotary Club Grants $6,000 to Library

Date:

In a generous act of community support, the Friendswood Rotary Club has recently awarded a $6,000 Literacy Grant to the Friendswood Library. This significant grant has been utilized to purchase a unique collection of Wonderbooks, an innovative type of children’s books equipped with built-in audio players that narrate the story aloud.

These Wonderbooks are expected to revolutionize the reading experience for young readers, catering to those still developing their reading skills. The audio component of these books not only makes reading more engaging for children but also aids in improving their listening and comprehension abilities.

The handover event, held at the Friendswood Library on Monday night, was a festive and joyful occasion. The Friendswood Rotary Club members, including its president and several key contributors to the grant, were present to celebrate this momentous contribution to the library.

Adding to the excitement, Santa Claus made a special appearance, delighting the children and families. He participated in the reading sessions, sharing the newly acquired Wonderbooks with the young library patrons. His presence brought an extra layer of magic to the event, making it a memorable evening.

This initiative is part of the Friendswood Rotary Club’s ongoing commitment to literacy and education in the community. By funding the purchase of these innovative books, the Rotary Club is not only supporting the Friendswood Library but also nurturing a love for reading and learning among the younger residents of Friendswood.

The Wonderbooks are now available at the Friendswood Library, offering a rich resource for families to enjoy reading together. This initiative is expected to have a lasting impact on the community, fostering a stronger culture of reading and literacy for years to come.
