Despite the age of some campuses, Alvin ISD schools appear well maintained, according to a facilities report presented this month by PBK Architects.
“The general feel is these are all very well-maintained schools, no matter how old they were,” Jeff Chapman of PBK Architects told school board members on Dec. 12.
Begun last April, the firm’s assessment covered all campuses older than 10 years, examining which components are past their expected service lives.
“We’ve highlighted two campuses in particular, Stevenson and Disney — looking at percentage of their major systems are past their useful service life,” said Caroline Harris, PBK’s facility planning chair.
“This is great data that we will use to make educated decisions moving forward,” Superintendent Carol Nelson said.
