Candidates set for March primary

Filing ended December 11 for the March 2024 primaries, drawing a slate of candidates for the House District 29 seat vacated by retiring State Rep. Ed Thompson.

Candidates for District 29 in the Republican primary include two Pearland city councilmen, Jeffrey Barry and Alex Kamkar, former councilman Trent Perez, and Pearland native Edgar Pacheco Jr.

The winner of the March 5 primary will face Democrat Adrienne Bell in November.
At the county level, Brazoria County Sheriff L. “Bo” Stallman filed in the Republican primary, drawing challenger Richard Foreman, a police chief from Lake Jackson.

Precinct 3 County Commissioner Stacy Adams and Precinct 3 Constable Buck Stevens are unopposed.

The last day to register to vote in the March 5 primaries is February 5, 2024. Early voting is from February 20 through March 1.
