In a stunning display of athleticism, Friendswood High School’s cheerleading squads made a remarkable impression at the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) Nationals held in Dallas over the weekend.
The Advanced Team clinched a coveted 1st place victory, while their counterparts on the Intermediate Team secured an impressive 3rd place, marking a significant achievement for the school and its athletic program.
Led by coaches Kerri Yee and Courtney Stryk, the cheerleaders showcased a level of skill and coordination that set them apart from the competition. The team’s routines, characterized by their intricate choreography and high-flying stunts, drew praise from judges and spectators alike.
The Advanced Team’s first-place finish is a result of months of rigorous training and dedication. “Our team has worked incredibly hard, and this victory is a testament to their commitment and the support we’ve received from the entire Friendswood community,” said Coach Yee, reflecting on the win.
The Intermediate Team’s third-place achievement, in a field crowded with talented squads, speaks volumes about the depth of the cheerleading program at Friendswood High School.
Coach Stryk expressed pride in the team’s performance, noting, “Every member of this team has contributed to our success. Their teamwork and perseverance have been outstanding.”
The cheerleading teams comprise a diverse group of students, each bringing unique strengths to the squad. Team members include Kennedy Akin, Kenlee Behlmer, Addison Brady, Brilee Bristow, Adelyn Brown, Mia Calles, Emma Canales, Claudia Church, Karley Costley, Kinleigh Crochet, Aubrey Cullen, Autumn Davis, Brooke Davis, Sophie Finch, Cali Frangente, Samantha Gibson, Kate LaBorde, Kylee Lewicki, Giuliana Lopez, Madison McDuff, Elizabeth McHazlett, Allie Michael, Abby Miller, Ellie Mitchell, Holland Morales, Elisa Morris, Jamie Paulder, Haydan Resnick, Paisley Stark, Ryleigh Studemeyer, Randi Teague, Elena Valicek, Sara Wignall, Rylie Whitley, Jenna Wolfe, and Kambri Yee.
The NCA Nationals is one of the most prestigious cheerleading competitions in the country, attracting top talent from high schools nationwide.
