FRIENDSWOOD POLICE REPORT

Theft

Jan. 15 (12:07 p.m.) A construction dump trailer was stolen from the 300 block of E. Parkwood Avenue sometime after midday on January 14th. The trailer is described as a 2023 Load Trail DT1 dump trailer. It is all black, 83-in x 14-ft with 4-ft walls. It has a hand cranked rollback tarp with upgraded 14-ply tires. It had a large magnetic sticker on the back of the trailer that said, “Bearkat Construction” and a small sticker on the front that said, “14 yard”. The suspect vehicle may be a white or silver pickup truck, possibly a Ford F150.
Jan. 16 (4:20 p.m.) The owner of a construction company took an advance payment for a backyard patio build for a home in the 2300 block of Darden Springs Lane. A contract was signed in October 2023, when the owner was provided with advance payment. The construction began in December; however, the concrete work was stopped when the vendor received a bad check from the construction company. Since that time, there has been no contact from the owner of the construction company despite many attempts by the victim. The owner, Aleck Stephen Miller, currently has an outstanding warrant in Harris County for felony Theft.
Jan. 17 (1:06 p.m.) Two suspects stole $1,300 worth of cosmetic products from Walgreens, 104 E. Parkwood Avenue. The suspects are described as a Middle Eastern male and female. The two entered the store at 5:28 p.m. on January 16th, the couple purchased one small item but left without paying for the other items.
Jan. 18 (9:00 a.m.) A resident at Village on the Park, 400 E. Parkwood Avenue, reported the theft of cash and jewelry from his apartment. The theft was first discovered just before Christmas 2023, when an envelope of money was missing from a drawer, along with several pieces of jewelry. Then on January 17th, more jewelry went missing from the apartment. The victim has a cleaning crew in the apartment once a week and there are maintenance workers who have access to the apartment.

Criminal Mischief

Jan. 19 (11:07 a.m.) Graffiti was reported at the Oxnard Park gazebo.

Fraud

Jan. 15 (8:40 a.m.) A Friendswood man reported fraud on his bank account when he discovered two unauthorized transactions through cash app. The victim does not have cash app and did not authorize the transfer of funds from his bank account.
Jan. 16 (3:21 p.m.) A Friendswood resident reported that a BMO Bank account was opened using his personal identifying information. After believing that the bank closed the account, he received a statement in December indicating that the account had not been closed. He later discovered that BMO Bank had been accused of creating fake bank accounts and using non-custom identities.
Jan. 17 (12:49 p.m.) A Friendswood man opened a broker company with Customs. Despite never using the company, the victim’s business name was used, along with their USDOT number, to create fake emails to dispatch loads through the company.
Jan. 19 (8:47 a.m.) A Friendswood woman sent a check to a Fort Bend County organization, but the check did not clear. Instead, a forged check was passed through her account in the name of an employee who works for the Fort Bend County organization.
Jan. 19 (8:49 a.m.) A Friendswood woman’s credit card was compromised and used to make an unauthorized charge to an apartment complex in North Carolina.
Jan. 20 (9:51 a.m.) Police are investigating another case where a victim sent intimate photographs to a person they do not know and are now being asked to send money or take the chance of the person sending the photographs to the victim’s family and friends.
Jan. 21 (10:17 a.m.) A Friendswood woman reported that two credit card accounts were opened using her personal identifying Information. She believes this may be a result of an information leak by HCA in June 2023.

Harassment

Jan. 18 (4:13 p.m.) An arrest warrant is pending charging a 52-year-old Friendswood woman with Harassment. The charges are the result of months of harassment by the suspect toward staff at a local dental office.

Missing Person

Jan. 18 (8:37 p.m.) Police and family members are looking for a missing local man. He was last seen on January 15th, at his residence in the 1300 block of Oak Hollow Drive. The missing person is Matthew Edward Tomko, 44. He is described as a white male, 6 feet tall, 170 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. Tomko is a Lyft driver and may be driving a dark-colored Toyota Prius owned by Lyft. The plastic cover for the passenger side mirror is broken. Police were unable to contact the missing person by phone.

Disorderly Conduct

Jan. 16 (11:54 a.m.) A resident in the 1000 block of Applewood Drive submitted two Ring videos showing six teenagers damaging her property. This was the second incident, the first happened several months ago.
Jan. 17 (9:26 a.m.) Reports from the 500 block of High Ridge Drive and 1100 block of Peregrine Drive report hooded and masked individuals kicking the front door of these residences. Friendswood High School students were identified along with information that the mother of one of the suspects’ was driving the teens around and allowing them to create the disturbance. One of the residents told police that the banging was so forceful that she believed that they were trying to break down the door. The incident occurred on January 13th.
Jan. 17 (7:58 p.m.) A resident in the 400 block of Melodywood Drive reported that 3 to 4 teenage males arrived at his home at 1:15 a.m. on January 13th and began banging on his door and ringing his doorbell. The suspects got into a black Ford Expedition. A partial license plate was provided to police.
Jan. 19 (1:03 p.m.) Another disorderly conduct incident involving a group of teens banging on doors was reported in the 800 block of Sandringham.
