Robbery

On February 17, 2024, the Friendswood Police Department responded to a robbery that occurred at approximately 10:45 a.m., at the Subway located at 104 S. Friendswood Drive.
The suspect entered the Subway, approached the counter, and then walked back out of the store. Moments later, he re-entered the Subway and approached the cashier demanding money while grabbing his waistband. The cashier gave the suspect the money from the register, and he then fled from the scene.
Through the diligent work of investigators with the Friendswood Police Department, the suspect was identified as Claude Andrew Pickens, Jr., 58, of Houston. A Galveston County Felony Robbery warrant was issued for him within hours of the robbery.
Pickens was traced to an apartment complex near Friendswood where officers took him into custody without incident at approximately 8:15 p.m. on February 17, 2024.

Theft

Feb. 12 (4:10 p.m.) A dealer license plate was stolen from a vehicle at the Enclave Apartments located at 5000 Watkins Way.
Feb. 13 (9:18 a.m.) A truck was reported stolen in the 16600 block of Forest Bend Avenue. The theft was captured on surveillance video at 5:15 a.m. The stolen truck is described as a silver 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 truck, Texas license plates NHT0398. The truck was modified with a 6-inch lift kit, oversized tires, and black wheels. It also had a black toolbox mounted in the bed.
Feb. 13 (11:07 a.m.) The theft of a firearm was reported in the 500 block of Linson Lane. The firearm was stolen sometime between December 23rd and January 15th from an unlocked vehicle.
Feb. 14 (6:28 a.m.) The theft of a firearm was reported in the 1800 block of Lakeside Lane. Sometime overnight, an unlocked vehicle was rummaged through, and the gun was stolen.
Feb. 14 (8:17 a.m.) The theft of a set of hub caps was reported in the 1800 block of Cloud Croft Drive. The theft occurred sometime overnight.
Feb. 15 (10:07 a.m.) A check was stolen from the mail while in transit to its destination. A Friendswood resident mailed a check to the Harris County Tax Assessor for her property taxes. The check was stolen, washed, altered, and deposited.
Feb. 16 (9:28 a.m.) Copper theft was reported at homes under construction in the 1700 block of Spring View and 2100 block of Canyon View Court.
Feb. 16 (1:25 p.m.) Friendswood Police are investigating a report of a stolen cell phone. The incident occurred at a residence in the 400 block of Live Oak Lane when the victim’s ex-husband refused to return the cell phone during a custody exchange. The victim owns the phone, makes monthly payments, and provides the phone to her child. Despite a request to return the phone, the suspect refused. Due to the cost of the cell phone, the charge could be a Class A misdemeanor.

Fraud

Feb. 12 (11:27 a.m.) A Friendswood business owner found unauthorized withdrawals from his business account.
Feb. 13 (9:53 a.m.) A Friendswood woman alleges insurance fraud on the part of a local Friendswood dentist. The victim paid for 10 veneers, but the dentist only did 6 veneers.
Feb. 15 (8:14 a.m.) A Friendswood resident reported that a bank account was opened using her personal identifying information.

Criminal Mischief

Feb. 18 (12:02 p.m.) A Friendswood City Jail inmate, Jason Allen Ray Trout, 25, of Santa Fe, is accused of damaging city property. He was observed on camera banging the receiver from the inmate phone system against the steel door of the jail cell.
Traffic
Feb. 14 (5:14 p.m.) A hit and run accident was reported at the intersection of Whispering Pines and S. Friendswood Drive. The suspect vehicle is described as a grey/blue 4-door Chevrolet truck.

Other Incidents

Feb. 14 (9:48 p.m.) Officers were dispatched to a robbery at Subway, located at 101 W. Parkwood Avenue. When officers arrived, they found that no robbery had taken place; however, a demand for employees to open the safe and remove money was made by phone.
Feb. 16 (10:34 p.m.) A traffic stop has led to an identity theft investigation that also includes the manufacture and sale of fictitious driver licenses.

Arrests

A male suspect, 39, of League City, was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1 and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.
A female suspect, 33, of Pasadena, was arrested on an outstanding Friendswood traffic warrant.
A female suspect, 47 of Friendswood, was charged with Fraudulent Use or Possession of Identifying Information.
A female suspect, 26, of Friendswood was arrested on outstanding Harris County warrants.
A male suspect, 31, of Friendswood, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated.
A female suspect, 23, of Alvin, was charged with Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.
A female suspect, 22, of Corpus Christi, was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
A male suspect, 44, of Houston, was charged with Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty group 1, Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1, and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.
A male suspect, 47, of Alvin, was charged with Public Intoxication and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
A female suspect, 46, of Friendswood, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated.
A male suspect, 17, of Pasadena, was charged with No Driver’s License.
A male suspect, 40, of Humble, was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1.
A male suspect, 27, of League City, was charged with Resisting Arrest, Search, or Transport.
