Heroes of Friendswood Banner Program

Date:

A Celebration to Honor Our Past and Present Members of the Armed Forces
The Friends of Downtown Friendswood / FDFA is proud to announce that enrollment is open for the new Heroes of Friendswood Banner Program. The deadline to apply is April 15, 2024.

The Heroes of Friendswood Banner Program honors veterans, both living, deceased, and active-duty members of the Armed Forces from Friendswood, Tx. Each banner features the individual photo, name, and branch of service. Sponsored by families and friends, the banners will be displayed on light poles throughout the Friendswood Downtown District for both Memorial Day and Veterans Day holidays. This is the first year for the program.

“Friendswood has a strong veteran community,” said Richard Sasson, the committee chairperson. “We hope to honor that tradition with these banners on Memorial Day and Veterans Day.”

An individual qualifies to take part in the Heroes of Friendswood Banner Program if they have lived in Friendswood at any time (past or present) and are serving or have served in any one of the following branches of the United States Armed Forces: Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, Navy, or Space Force.

The program costs $100 per Hero, which covers the banner production cost. Each banner is expected to be used for a minimum of 2 years and will be given back to the donor after it is decommissioned. Information on application requirements and how to apply is available at www.fdfa.org/Heroes.
