Friendswood Art Students raise $100,000

Friendswood High School art students brought in a whopping $100,000 at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Art Auction this week.

In Lot 28, Rania Palmer’s painting “Brotherhood” sold for $18,000.

In Lot 29, Devon Palmer’s “Free Living” painting sold for $30,000.

In Lot 49 was Amorette Garcia’s colored pencil piece, “A Cowgirl’s Companion,” which also sold for $30,000.

And in Lot 49, returning rodeo artist Kamryn Phillips sold her piece “Home of the Brave” for $22,000.

The rodeo art program provides 15 scholarships annually, worth $20,000 over four years, to graduating high school seniors to pursue a degree at a Texas college or university.

Over 10 million art entries have been submitted since the program began in 1965.
