Pearland ISD: Input session held for curriculum audit

A public input session for Pearland ISD parents and community members is planned for Monday, March 25, with the firm conducting a curriculum audit for the district.

The forum, scheduled from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the district support center, 1928 E. Main St., is an opportunity for parents and community members to discuss their experience in Pearland ISD with members of its curriculum management audit team.

The school board in December approved a $103,358 contract with the Austin-based Texas Association of School Administrators for the audit, which will examine all grade levels in the four core academic areas: math, reading, science and social studies.

The audit process is expected to take 13 weeks, with at least a week of campus visits. District leaders, along with some teachers, will be interviewed.

“We want to see how we can get better and continue to be the best that Pearland ISD has to offer,” Superintendent Larry Berger said.

The audit result will be a report with recommendations for improvements to help the district align with state standards and identify and remove any barriers to student learning.
