Ann Ashburn Crainer of Texas City, TX passed away Wednesday March 6, 2024. She left us far too soon at the age of 59. We are heartbroken and absolutely lost in her absence.

She leaves behind many friends and family including her husband of 36 years, John Paul Crainer of Texas City; her son, John Thomas Crainer and his fiancée, Lucy Saucedo-Tapia of Austin, TX; her father, James Thomas Johnson of Albuquerque, NM; her brother, Don Johnson and his wife, Cheri Johnson of Albuquerque, NM; and many friends, especially Rhonda Baldry and her husband Mike.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Vera Lowe Johnson, who left us in 2007.

Ann Ashburn Johnson was born on March 10, 1964, in Hobbs, NM. From Hobbs she moved with her family to Midland and then Missouri City, TX. Ann graduated high school in Missouri City and then attended Texas Tech University, where she received her degree in education and then met the love of her life and best friend, John Paul Crainer.
Ann taught in Levelland, TX while John Paul finished his engineering degree at Tech.

John and Ann married in Lubbock and moved to Friendswood, TX, where Ann taught math at Harby Jr. High School in Alvin. When their son, John Thomas, JT, was born they began many new adventures as a family. Ann continued teaching in Alvin and the family joined the Harbor Church where they became active members and Ann volunteered in the day care.

Ann and John Paul moved to Texas City where they joined Mem1 Church and became supporting and active members. Throughout her life Ann was a voracious reader. She loved cooking, dining out, puzzle and game nights at the church, crafting, museums, shopping, and visiting Texas Tech to see her son and take in a football game.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday March 30 at Mem1 Church, 2021 29th Street North in Texas City. Flowers are welcome for the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to may be made to the American Cancer Society in Ann’s honor.
