The sales tax holiday is this weekend

Date:

The state Comptroller’s office announced a statewide sales tax holiday for emergency preparation supplies that begins just after midnight on Saturday, April 27, and ends at midnight on Monday, April 29.

Approved by the Texas Legislature in 2015, the holiday allows the sales tax-free purchase of household batteries, fuel containers, and flashlights under $75, hurricane shelters and emergency ladders under $300, and portable generators under $3,000.

Items that don’t qualify are auto batteries, camping supplies, chainsaws, plywood, extension or stepladders, and tents.

A complete list of sales-tax-exempt items can be found at comptroller.texas.gov.
