Wildlife Refuge to Host Migration Celebration

Date:

This weekend, April 27 and 28, the San Bernard National Wildlife Refuge invites the community to its highly anticipated annual Migration Celebration. The event, open from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM each day, promises a host of free activities suitable for both the young and the young at heart.

Visitors will have the opportunity to connect with nature and participate in a variety of outdoor activities. Highlights of the event include youth fishing, archery, and access to a shooting range, providing a hands-on experience that caters to all levels of expertise.

For those interested in arts and crafts, there will be numerous craft stations, while a butterfly encounter and a showcase of live reptiles will offer up-close interactions with wildlife.

The exhibit hall will feature educational displays that explore the wonders of migration and the importance of wildlife conservation. This immersive experience aims to increase awareness and foster a deeper appreciation for the natural world.

No celebration is complete without good food, and the Migration Celebration will not disappoint with a variety of food trucks serving up delicious treats throughout the event.

Whether you’re in the mood for a quick snack or a hearty meal, there will be options to satisfy every palate.

Adding an exciting visual element to this year’s festivities, the Migration Celebration will also feature a photo contest, inviting amateur and seasoned photographers alike to capture the beauty of the refuge and its inhabitants. Entries will be on display for public viewing during the event and on the website beginning June 1st. This contest emphasizes the stunning biodiversity of the refuge and is a wonderful opportunity for photographers to showcase their skills while allowing visitors to see the refuge from new perspectives.

The Migration Celebration is more than just an event; it’s a community effort to celebrate and protect our natural heritage. This family-friendly festival is free to all, making it a perfect weekend outing for everyone from avid birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts to families looking for a fun and educational day out.
