Friendswood High School is celebrating the remarkable achievement of its student, Rylan Lynch, who has been declared the first-place winner in a nationwide visual art competition sponsored by the Congressional Institute.
The annual contest aims to recognize and encourage artistic talent nationwide and in each congressional district.
Rylan Lynch’s artwork stood out among numerous entries and was selected by a panel of district artists as the top piece from the district. His winning creation will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year, offering national exposure.
Additionally, Lynch will travel to Washington, D.C., in June to attend the prestigious awards ceremony.
Art teacher Mandy Harris expressed immense pride in the students’ achievements, saying, “We are thrilled to announce that Rylan Lynch was selected as the first place winner for our congressional district, and his work will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year!”
The school also celebrated the success of another talented artist, Claire Radtke, who secured third place in the same competition. Her artwork will be exhibited in Congressman Randy Weber’s district office for one year.
This competition, held each spring, invites high school students to submit their artwork for evaluation by a panel of local artists.
Winners are recognized in their district and at the annual awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. The event showcases the students’ artistic abilities and highlights the importance of arts in education.
