Pearland Closes Out Dobie in Playoffs

Date:

Pearland senior closer Trevor Ainsworth delivers a pitch vs Dobie in game one of the 6A round two (Area) playoff series vs Dobie.

Jake Mader-Cooper started the game and pitched a gem, going 6.2 innings and giving up only one run.

With the game tied 1-1 in the bottom of the 6th and the Oilers needing a strong finish, Ainsworth entered the game in a high-pressure situation and delivered, facing eight batters and giving up no hits and no runs as the game went to extra innings.

In the top of the 8th inning, the Pearland bats came alive with five runners scoring to make it a 6-1 Oiler lead.  Ainsworth finished off the Dobie batters in the bottom of the 8th with a 1-2-3 inning, taking the win in game one for Pearland.

The Oilers would have little trouble in game two on their way to a 7-0 win and securing their spot in the third round of the playoffs.

Pearland will face Atascocita in round three, with all games played at Deer Park HS.
Games one and two are on Thursday and Friday, starting at 7 pm, and game three (if needed) is on Saturday at 6 pm.
