Runoff is Tuesday for District 29

Early voting ends Friday, and election day is Tuesday, May 28, for a runoff between two former Pearland council members seeking the Republican nomination for Texas House District 29.

Alex Kamkar and Jeffrey Barry both resigned from the city council in December to run for the position being vacated by retiring Rep. Ed Thompson. Kamkar is endorsed by Gov. Gregg Abbott, while Barry has been endorsed by Thompson, who served six terms.

Early voting hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at ten county locations, including the Tom Reid Library, 3522 Liberty Drive, West Pearland Community Center, 2150 Countryplace Parkway, and West Pearland Library, 11801 Shadow Creek Parkway.

On Monday, voting hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Election day polling locations include both Pearland library branches and the community center, along with Drainage District No. 4 building, 4813 Broadway St., and Silverlake Recreation Center, 2715 Southwyck Parkway.

The winner of the May 28 runoff will face Democrat Adrienne Bell in November.
The 29th District encompasses the north and east portions of Brazoria County, including Pearland, Manvel, and Alvin.
