Speed limit change on McHard, Shadow Creek Parkway

Date:

The speed limit on one east-west Pearland corridor could be changing soon.

Pearland City Council on May 13 approved the first reading of an ordinance setting the speed limit on Shadow Creek Parkway at 45 mph between FM 521 and Trinity Bay and 40 mph between Trinity Bay and Highway 288. The ordinance would also set speed limits on new segments of McHard Road between Cullen and Mykawa Road at 45 mph.

“Same corridor, different name on each side of 288,” City Manager Trent Epperson said.
The updates are based on speed studies done by the Texas Department of Transportation for Shadow Creek Parkway, which is state-maintained, and by the city for McHard Road.

“We used the same methodology and established the speed limit based on that,” Epperson said.
