Pearland advances to the state tournament at Dell Diamond in Round Rock for the second straight year.
The Oilers will face defending 6A champion Flower Mound in the State Semi-Final on Friday, June 7th, at 4 p.m.
The winner of that game earns a place in the 6A State Championship game on Saturday, June 8th, at 4 pm.
Saturday Pearland senior 3rd baseman Danny Ontiveros hit a two-RBI single in the 4th inning Saturday vs Cy-Fair that put the Oilers on the board first on their way to a 5-1 victory in game three of the 6A Region III final.
Ontiveros would add two more RBIs in the 5th inning via a double on his way to hitting 2 for 3 with a walk.
Junior Nico Partida put in another stellar outing on the mound that is becoming almost routine for him with 11 strikeouts, giving up just two hits and one walk.
