Alvin ISD honors teachers, staff

RISE Academy teacher Vickie Koehler was named Alvin ISD Secondary Teacher of the Year, and Christine Parker of Pomona Elementary earned elementary-level Teacher of the Year honors.

A native of Galveston, Koehler joined the district 24 years ago as a Spanish teacher, receiving her certification from UH-Clear Lake. She has taught at RISE for 19 years.

Monique Gadson of EC Mason/Barbara Bennett Elementary and Dale Tribble of Fairview Jr. High were honored as Principals of the Year.

The district also awarded the title of District Rookie Teachers of the Year to Sydney Zavalla of Jeter Elementary and Valeria Serrato from Iowa Colony High School.
