League City and Friendswood Lakes linked

Date:

The long-anticipated connection between League City Parkway and Friendswood Lakes Boulevard has been completed. This new route is expected to alleviate some of the congestion currently experienced on FM 518.

Completing this connection marks another milestone in a broader transportation project that will eventually extend the road to FM 2351, providing a continuous route to Pearland Parkway. While the exact path for this extension has yet to be determined, multiple options are currently under discussion.

The Houston Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) has commissioned a comprehensive study to evaluate the various possible routes for this extension. The aim is to identify the most efficient and least disruptive path to complete the connection to FM 2351.

When fully realized, the four-lane divided parkway will offer a crucial alternative to several major routes, including Interstate 45 South (IH 45S) and Farm-to-Market Road 518 (FM 518). In addition to easing daily traffic, this new parkway will serve as a vital evacuation route for Gulf Coast residents during emergencies.
