Letter to the Editor: School Board Election

Date:

Upfront…I encourage you to vote for all four incumbent candidates for the Friendswood ISD Board!

It seems strange to me that all four incumbents are opposed by what appears to be a slate of candidates. It begs the question, why?

Are they long term residents? Yes. Hopkins grew up in Friendswood and was “Mr. Mustang” during his time as a student. Hillenburg spent many years of her illustrious career as a teacher and administrator in the District. Both Rhodes and Seifert continue as volunteers on school campuses.

Do they have experience? Yes. Each has a unique and wise perspective on the required state laws and regulations. They work hard to maintain the longstanding culture of excellence for FISD, while still meeting state requirements.

Are they in touch with the needs of students, teachers or administrators? Yes. All have children or grandchildren currently enrolled in FISD. They know, firsthand, the needs of the FISD community and have a proven record of wise responses.

Does FISD continue its culture of excellence? Yes. These Board members work hard to maintain excellence at all levels.

Then, what is my conclusion? Vote for Hillenburg, Rhodes, Seifert, and Hopkins for FISD School Board!
