How Brazoria County voted

Like the rest of the state, Brazoria County remained largely red as Republican Donald Trump took nearly 60 percent of the local vote.

Trump received 95,769 votes in the county compared to 63,849 for Vice-President Kamala Harris.

Third-party candidates and write-ins accounted for less than 2% of the vote.

Sen. Ted Cruz received just over 55 percent of the Brazoria county vote, or 90,116 vs. Democratic challenger Colin Allred’s 66,944, according to unofficial results.

District 14 U.S. Rep. Randy Weber was supported by nearly 77 percent of county voters, vs. 24 percent for Democrat Rhonda Hart.

In District 22, Rep. Troy Nehls secured more than 62 percent of the local vote.

Alvin ISD

Alvin ISD voters supported its $380 million bond election with 60.77 percent, or 35,061 in favor, and 39.23 percent, or 22,637 against. Funds are designated for new schools, campus expansions, and added security to address the school district’s future growth.

County races

County voters reelected Sheriff Bo Stallman with nearly 63 percent of the vote, or 91,552 vs. 53,825 for independent candidate Kevin Henry.

In Brazoria County Drainage District No. 4 Place 1, former Pearland councilman Adrian Hernandez held a narrow lead of 50.62 percent of Democrat Jim Mooney with 49.38 percent. Hernandez received 36,910 votes vs. 36,004 for Mooney.

The results were similarly cast for Place 2 commissioner, with Republican Jeff Brennan with 50.25 percent of the vote and 49.75 percent for Democrat Matthew Muller, or 36,448 to 36,080.
