The Alvin Community College Foundation celebrated the legacy of musical icon Jimmy Buffett during its Annual Fins Up Gala on November 8 at the South Shore Harbor Resort. Community members, ACC alums, faculty, staff, and donors celebrated Buffett’s spirit of giving, music, and community while providing students and staff with critical support.
With an evening filled with music provided by Lost Shaker of Salt, a Buffett tribute band, the Foundation succeeded in raising funds that will directly benefit ACC students through scholarships and essential campus programs. Each donation creates meaningful educational opportunities, advances faculty initiatives, and supports various needs across the college. These contributions ensure that ACC students have the resources to pursue their academic goals despite financial or personal challenges.
“Our Fins Up Gala was not only a celebration of Jimmy Buffett’s enduring legacy but also a testament to the unwavering support of our community,” said Wendy Del Bello, ACC Foundation executive director. “With every dollar raised, we’re investing in the future of our students and the advancement of our college, which impacts generations to come.”
The Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, works year-round to raise funds for scholarships, innovative programs, and educational opportunities at ACC. This year’s Gala drew record support from community sponsors, businesses, and individuals eager to make a difference in the lives of ACC students.
The Foundation is grateful to all attendees, sponsors, and volunteers who made the Fins Up Gala an unforgettable night of generosity and community spirit. The funds raised will play a crucial role in helping ACC continue to provide quality education and support services that enrich the lives of students and the surrounding community.
