Filing opens soon for May 3 local elections

Candidate filing begins Jan. 15 for May 3 local elections, which include three seats on the Pearland City Council as well as positions on the Pearland ISD and Alvin ISD school boards. 

Up for reelection on Pearland City Council are Position No. 1, No. 5, and No. 6, currently held by council members Joseph Koza, Layni Cade, and Chad Thumann, respectively. The three-year terms will end in May 2028. 

Prospective candidates may file at the office of the city secretary, 3519 Liberty Drive, on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Information packets can be downloaded from the city’s website at pearlandtx.gov. 

PISD

In Pearland ISD, seats up for reelection are Position No. 7, held by Nanette Weimer; Position No. 5, held by Amanda Kuhn; and Position No. 6, held by Jenny Francis. PISD candidates may file at 1928 North Main St. The board’s regular meetings are at 5 p.m. on the second Tuesday. More information is available by calling 832-736-6127. 

AISD

Trustees with terms expiring in May are Position No. 4, held by Regan Peterson; and Position No. 5, held by David Selsky. The AISD board typically meets on the second Tuesday beginning at 6:15 p.m. 

Prospective candidates may file during business hours at the Tommy King Administration Building, 301 E. House St. in Alvin. More information on the board and upcoming election can be found at alvinisd.net.
