The Alvin ISD Education Foundation’s Turtle Race and 5K Family Fun Run is scheduled for February 8.
The event is relocating this year and will be held at the Meridiana Adventure Cove, 5225 Meridiana Parkway in Manvel.
In the 11 a.m. turtle race, participants purchase tickets for numbered plastic turtles that are released onto a watercourse — the first to cross the finish line wins. More than 20 vendors will be on hand, and proceeds support the foundation.
Check-in for the 5K and 1K is at 7:45 a.m., with the 1K at 8:30 a.m., 5K at 9 a.m., and the mascot race at 10:45 a.m.
