FISD announces sale of former elementary school

Date:

The Friendswood Independent School District (FISD) has officially announced plans to sell the former C.W. Cline Elementary School property, which has remained vacant for nearly two years. The property, located at 505 Briarmeadow Avenue, includes more than 11 acres of land in the heart of Friendswood.

The former school building became vacant after the opening of the new C.W. Cline Elementary campus in the West Ranch neighborhood. The move allowed the school to expand its offerings, growing from a K-3rd grade campus to a PreK-5th grade campus, meeting the needs of the district’s youngest learners.

FISD is inviting sealed offers from interested buyers, marking a significant opportunity for potential developers or investors. The property includes existing improvements and is situated in a prime location, making it an attractive option for various uses.

Details regarding the sale, along with instructions for submitting offers, can be obtained by contacting Tabitha McCain, FISD Purchasing Coordinator, at tmccain@fisdk12.net. All offers must be submitted in hard copy and received by 2:00 p.m. on March 6, 2025. Electronic submissions will not be accepted.

The district has stated that it reserves the right to reject any or all offers and may keep the offer period open if no suitable bids are received by the deadline.

This sale marks a new chapter for the property which has served the community since it’s opening in 1977.
