HOSA Students Shine at Area 2 Competition

Friendswood High School’s HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) team achieved outstanding results at the Area 2 Competition held at Clear Brook High School on January 24-25. Guided by Biomedical teacher Heather Martin, these students showcased their skills and knowledge across various categories, earning recognition and advancing to the state level.

The top three finishers in each category will represent Friendswood High School at the State HOSA Conference, set to take place April 29-May 1 at the Kalahari Resort in Round Rock, Texas.

Area 2 Competition Results:

Biomedical Debate

1st Place: Joel Blessan, Lillian Gonzales, Noah Love, Shayan Saqib  

Biotechnology  

3rd Place: Bryan Nguyen  

Dental Science

5th Place: Ian Park  

EMT (Emergency Medical Technician)

1st Place: Canon Cashen & Aidan Larson  

2nd Place: Laila Ahmed & Gizelle Greene  

Public Health

4th Place: Arya Gangakhedkar, Samriah Gill, Neela Juarez, Mariam Mohsin, Sreeja Tipirneni  

In addition to these achievements, several students advanced directly to the state competition following exceptional performances in online testing in December:

2nd Place: Ky-Minh To  

HOSA Sponsor and Biomedical Instructor Heather Martin expressed her pride in the team’s accomplishments. “Please help me congratulate these amazing students!” she said.
