Two hundred eighty-seven intermediate and high school students advanced to the District-level competition, with 172 learning an award. Students compete in Life Science, Physical Science, or Engineering.
“We are fortunate that our Bay Area Houston region is home to diverse and thriving industries including aerospace, maritime, specialty chemical, and cutting-edge healthcare and life sciences,” said Superintendent of Schools Karen Engle, Ed.D. “Because of the initiative and critical thinking you have clearly demonstrated through your projects, it is my hypothesis that each of you will be able to take your pick among these fields when it comes time to join the workforce.”
For the 12th consecutive year, SAIC served as a Presenting Sponsor whose contributions have supported the students and programming of the CCISD Science and Engineering Fair. New to the fair this year, several business and industry partners sponsored awards in special categories ranging from the “Women in STEM Award” to the “Environmental Impact Award.” Joining long-time special award sponsors iYar Fine Arts were Aegis Aerospace, Arrow Science and Technology, Barrios, Galveston Bay Foundation, and Harris County Precinct 2, who each provided a monetary prize to award winners.
Dr. Engle also expressed her appreciation, and that of the Board of Trustees, to a strong and supportive community of teachers, parents, and science fair judges.
