The Friendswood Education Foundation (FEF) hosted its 25th Anniversary Gala, “Reflections,” on Saturday, February 8, bringing together over 780 community members, educators, and supporters for a night of celebration and generosity. The annual event, which served as FEF’s largest fundraiser yet, netted $480,000 to support innovative grants and educational initiatives for Friendswood ISD (FISD) students and teachers.
Held at the Galveston Island Convention Center, the milestone event featured an elegant cocktail hour, an exciting live and silent auction, and a heartfelt paddle raise, where attendees pledged direct support to FISD classrooms. Throughout the evening, guests reflected on 25 years of impact and recommitted to the Foundation’s mission of enhancing educational opportunities.
“We are incredibly grateful for the unwavering support of our community,” said Shanna Kirkpatrick, FEF Board President. “For 25 years, FEF has funded cutting-edge resources and programs that set FISD apart. Tonight was about celebrating that legacy and looking ahead to the next 25 years of innovation in education.”
During the event, Superintendent Thad Roher invited attendees to explore the Adopt-A-Grant displays—beautifully designed by FHS students and proudly hosted by FEF’s Grant Champions. With over 780 grant requests totaling more than $710,000 this year, community participation in the grant funding process was a key highlight of the night.
One of the night’s most exciting moments came during the live auction. An additional Labrador puppy was unexpectedly offered as a surprise item, doubling the joy for two lucky winners! The auction featured exclusive items, including luxury getaways and VIP experiences, concluding with a special 25th-anniversary toast and confetti celebration.
The success of FEF’s 25th Anniversary Gala, “Reflections,” was made possible through the generosity of local businesses, families, and event sponsors, including Title Sponsors Higginbotham Insurance and Financial Services, PBK Architects, and Tannos Development Group.
Since its founding, FEF has granted over $4.2 million to FISD teachers and students, funding transformative projects that go beyond the scope of traditional district budgets. In addition to classroom grants, the Foundation has awarded over $33,000 in educator scholarships, helping FISD teachers further their professional development as well. As the Foundation looks ahead, its mission remains to support FISD and enhance student and teacher experiences by providing innovative and engaging learning opportunities.
