April 3 is the last day to register to vote in the May 3 elections, which include trustee positions for Pearland and Alvin ISDs.

A candidate forum is slated for 6:30 to 8 pm April 10 at the VFW Post 7109, 4202 W. Walnut St. The forum is being hosted by the Pearland Area Republican Club and includes candidates for all positions.

On the Pearland ISD Board of Trustees, incumbent, and Air Force veteran Jenny Francis is being challenged by Pearland Chamber president and CEO Jim Johnson for Position No. 6.

For PISD Position No. 5, candidates are paraprofessional Azania Salazar and Daniel Stuckey, a business development and marketing director. Position No. 7 Trustee Nanette Weimer filed for reelection and is unopposed.

In Alvin ISD, Position No. 4 Trustee Regan Peterson faces challenger Brian Roberson II, and candidates Cheryl Harris, T’Liza Kiel, and Kelly Nichole Poindexter are vying for Position No. 5.

The City of Pearland canceled its election after none of the three candidates drew an opponent by the filing deadline. These include Position No. 1 Councilman Joseph Koza and Position No. 5 Council member Layni Cade, who filed for reelection, and Rick Fernandez, who filed for Position No. 6.

Early voting begins at 8 am. April 22 and runs through April 29 at the Tom Reid Library, Westside Event Center, and West Pearland Library.
