Public meeting set to discuss future of Friendswood Parkway

Date:

The public is invited to attend a community meeting on Monday, March 31 at 6:00 pm at the Friendswood Public Library to learn more about and provide input on the Friendswood Parkway Corridor Study—a long-term regional mobility initiative aimed at shaping the future of local transportation.

The Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) has partnered with the City of Friendswood to conduct a comprehensive study of the Friendswood Parkway corridor, which stretches from Farm-to-Market Road 2351 to Farm-to-Market Road 528.

The proposed project envisions the extension of Friendswood Parkway through the city, beginning at FM 528 and ultimately linking to FM 2351 and Pearland Parkway in Brazoria County. Once complete, the corridor would become a four-lane divided parkway, improving access across the region.

Officials from Galveston County, Brazoria County, the City of Pearland, and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) are also collaborating on the study. The project’s goals include improving mobility and connectivity, providing an alternative route to I-45 South and FM 518, and offering a critical evacuation route for communities near the Gulf Coast.

The March 31 meeting will allow residents to review proposed alignments, ask questions, and offer feedback to help shape the preferred route.

Community participation is encouraged to ensure the project reflects the needs and priorities of Friendswood residents. For questions ahead of the meeting, contact the City of Friendswood or visit the Friendswood Parkway Corridor Study page through H-GAC at engage.h-gac.com/friendswood-parkway.
