The Friendswood High School Theater Department has once again proven its talent and dedication by capturing first place in the UIL District 20-5A One Act Play Contest held on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Friendswood High School. Competing against six other schools in the district, the FHS cast and crew came out on top and will advance to the Bi-District round.
The Bi-District competition is scheduled for Thursday, April 3, at 9:45 a.m. in the Friendswood High School Performing Arts Center. Schools competing at the Bi-District level include La Porte, Iowa Colony, Westbrook High School (Beaumont), Port Neches-Groves, Barbers Hill (Mont Belvieu), and Friendswood. Friendswood will be the first to perform.
In addition to the overall team win, several FHS students received individual recognition for their outstanding performances and technical work:

Theater teacher and director Kathy Powdrell expressed her pride in the students, congratulating the full cast and crew for their hard work and success. “This team put in countless hours of rehearsal, design, and technical preparation. Their dedication and talent were on full display, and I couldn’t be more proud,” said Powdrell.
