Friendswood High School engineering students brought home top honors from the 2025 Texas Technology Student Association (TSA) State Competition, held this past weekend in Fort Worth. The team earned two state championships and saw one student qualify for the National TSA Conference.
Lance Sitton was named State Champion in Music Production, earning 1st place and qualifying for the National TSA Conference later this year.
In other national-level events, the team of Henry Kirk and Derek Lin placed 5th in Coding, while Silas Lovett, Lilliana Wang, and Victoria Voiers finished 7th in Webmaster. Several other teams placed in the top 20, including Isela Whiteside and Presley Studebaker in Technology Problem Solving, Logan Huber and Kennedy Rhodes in Digital Video Production, and Isela Whiteside and Victoria Voiers again in Board Game Design.
In events unique to the Texas TSA competition, Henry Kirk earned a second State Champion title for his Prototype of an Electronic Device and placed 4th in Manufacturing Metals. Other standout finishes included Sofia Hernandez, 4th in Materials Fabric and 12th in Computer Generated Graphic Art; Carrie Durso, 6th in Materials Combination; and Claire Durso, 12th in Residential Model.
TSA Sponsor and engineering teacher Melissa Sauceda praised the students for their creativity, determination, and strong performance: “These students put in countless hours preparing for this competition. I am incredibly proud of how they represented Friendswood High School.”
