The Pearland Parks and Recreation Department will kick off its Concert in the Park series 1980s style on May 2 at Southdown Park.
The free, family-friendly series of concerts highlight a live band from 7 to 9 p.m. each Friday in May and June, weather permitting. Families are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and pets on a leash. Outside food and drinks are allowed, but food vendors will also be on site.
The series kicks off May 2 with the 1980s music experience band, The Fuse, at the park, 2150 Countryplace Parkway.
The May 9 concert will feature the Slags, a variety cover band playing hits from various decades.
On May 16, Mango Punch returns to Southdown, playing everything from dance to romantic to Latin songs.
Adrian’s Fault performs classic rock, blues, country, and 80s and 90s favorites on May 23
Southdown Park performances wind up on May 30 with Girl Can’t Help It, an all-female Journey tribute band.
The concert series moves to Independence Park, 3449 Pearland Parkway, on June 6 with a performance of Texas rock by Jon Kott and the band.
The Fab Five will perform a variety of 1960’s hits on June 13. Marcus Ardoin and the Zydeco Legendz are scheduled for June 20. The series’ final show will feature Timeless HTX, a versatile group covering classic 70s and 80s, funk/soul, alternative, country, pop, and Latin rock.
