Theft
Apr. 14 (2:14 p.m.) A Friendswood contractor is accused of theft. He allegedly accepted a large downpayment for a project in the 800 block of Stephen Court and did not complete the project. A refund of the downpayment was requested and has not been returned.
Apr. 16 (12:11 p.m.) At 12:30 a.m., four teens entered Lake Friendswood Park, while the park was closed, and were fishing at the pier. They arrived by car, parked at the front gate, and jumped over the pedestrian gate to gain access. During their trespass, the fish feeder/gumball machine was forcefully removed from the base. Money from the machine was stolen, as well as the contents of the machine, before the teens left the park.
Apr. 20 (3:31 p.m.) An e-bike was stolen from the Enclave Apartments located at 5000 Watkins Way. The electric bike is described as a red Sondors brand, XS model, all-terrain e-bike. The e-bike was secured with a lock. The theft is believed to have occurred on April 18, 2025, at 10:44 hours, when a male was seen on a neighbor’s video camera riding away from the apartment on the e-bike.
Fraud
Apr. 14 (9:25 a.m.) A Friendswood maintenance company discovered seventeen forged payroll checks were cashed against the business bank account.
Apr. 15 (2:13 p.m.) A 74-year-old Friendswood man was targeted in an elaborate scam that began with a fake computer virus alert and ended with the victim losing a substantial amount of money. The victim received a pop-up message on his computer claiming that his device was infected with a virus. The message included a phone number for technical support and shortly after, the victim received a phone call from someone impersonating a support representative. The caller convinced the victim that his bank accounts were compromised and instructed him to make large cash withdrawals. The suspect provided specific instructions on what to tell bank tellers to avoid suspicion. Following the withdrawals, two men in suits, reportedly driving a van, arrived at the victim’s home and collected cash under the pretense of safekeeping. Later, the victim was emailed a check and instructed to deposit it as part of the ongoing scam. The check was fraudulent.
Apr. 17 (10:17 a.m.) A Friendswood man received a notification from an identity theft monitoring service about an application for a credit card with Best Buy. Then, he received an alert about an address change on his credit report and an unsuccessful attempt to gain online access to a credit card account.
Apr. 17 (11:54 a.m.) A Friendswood woman reported a scam involving an online purchase through a local Facebook group. The victim was scammed after responding to a post on the “Friendswood Moms and Dads” Facebook page. The victim agreed to purchase a dining room set from a user identifying as “Joy Daniels.” The transaction was initiated via private messages, and the victim sent payment through Zelle. After payment was made, the suspect claimed the furniture had been mistakenly sold to another buy who offered a higher price. The suspect then stated they had recovered the item and demanded additional funds before completing the sale. When the victim declined to send more money, the profile became untraceable, and the original funds were never refunded.
Apr. 18 (2:05 p.m.) A Friendswood man found suspicious activity on his bank account. There were small deposits followed by a withdrawal of the small deposits. Already suspicious about the minor activity, the victim began regularly checking his account and found a large pending withdrawal. He contacted his bank and stopped the withdrawal process.
Assault
Apr. 15 (3:38 p.m.) Friendswood High School SROs are investigating an assault that occurred on campus and may be related to the Airsoft/Nerf war game.
Criminal Mischief
Apr. 14 (3:13 p.m.) An individual on a skateboard was captured on video defacing property at the City of Friendswood Public Works building. The suspect vandalized an entry gate proximity reader at 2:45 a.m. on April 12th.
Traffic
Apr. 17 (3:33 p.m.) A hit and run crash was reported in the 400 block of W. Parkwood Avenue. A vehicle was struck from behind by a white or gray GMC Yukon. The driver of the Yukon fled north on Sunset.
